Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)
: is viral respiratory illness that is new to humans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
: a serious viral respiratory illness that is marked by fever, cough, and shortness of breath and that may often progress to severe pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome and organ failure.
A coronavirus first reported in the summer of 2012 in a pneumonia patient in SAUDI ARABIA. It is related to SARS VIRUS. MERS-CoV has an estimated incubation period of 12 days and symptoms include renal failure and severe acute pneumonia with often fatal outcome.
